Project Coordinator Spotlight: Angela Chen
A veteran of the project coordinators at P16Plus, Angela Chen has been a dedicated member of the team since October 2013, when she came to us as a junior at Trinity University. When she began, Angela worked on getting our Opportunity Youth initiatives off the ground, as well as playing a vital role in supporting the development of SA Kids Attend To Win. View Story
P16Plus Council of Greater Bexar County is continuing the SA Kids Attend to Win program to intervene when students as young as kindergarten start missing school.
The initiative is based on the idea that students who are chronically absent in the early grades are far more likely to drop out in high school, and students who develop good attendance skills early will be more likely to finish high school. SA Kids Attend to Win is already showing great results at Harlandale ISD. View Story
Destination College is San Antonio’s city-wide college celebration April 27th- May 1st, 2015.
Now in its fifth year, Destination College encourages students of all ages to pursue higher education. Sponsored by the City of San Antonio, the week includes both in-school and out-of-school public events coordinated with over twenty community partners. View Story
My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) is a community challenge started by President Obama encouraging city leaders, including San Antonio Mayor Ivy R. Taylor, to implement a coherent life-impact strategy. This national initiative is designed to help boys and men of color, including African American, Hispanic, Native American, and all non-white males reach their full potential regardless of life’s circumstances.
