On March 9, 2017, Diplomás will host a half-day Policy Summit at the UTSA Downtown Campus to discuss advocacy and its role in promoting Latino student success. Deborah Santiago, co-founder, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President for Policy at Excelencia in Education will share examples of successful advocacy efforts from around the country. Elected officials, local students and representatives from UTSA will define what advocacy is and why it is important.
Join us as we discuss the relationship between the highest levels of mathematics mastered by high school students and subsequent education outcomes. The “State of Math” in Bexar County will be followed by an important panel discussion about math and how it is affecting equity for our San Antonio students. This is a free event.
Under the new A-F accountability system, chronic absenteeism is a crucial indicator for elementary and middle schools. Domain IV: Postsecondary Readiness, will account for 35% of a campuses’ overall grade. For the elementary level, the entire 35% will be based on the chronic absenteeism rate. For middle schools, half of the 35% will be based on the rates of chronic absenteeism, while the other half will be based on the 7-8 annual dropout rate. View Story
