A New Look at Career Training and College Prep

Career and Technical Education programs are merging two groups in school to better prepare students for the workforce.

While traditional high schools segregate academic and career training programs, the push for merging both mindsets is leading career and technical education programs, or academies within schools,  to develop across the country.

Schools in California are seeing progress and students have found the hands-on training opportunities refreshing from traditional classes. While some students trek across the street to volunteer at local hospitals others might board a bus to travel downtown for internships at local businesses.

Additionally, the school within a school concept is especially beneficial for at-risk students. Despite the rigorous curriculum, the hands-on experiences motivate and inspire students to develop career paths.
