Dr. Folks Named Texas Superintendent of the Year

Northside Independent School District Administrator Dr. John Folks is named Texas Superintendent of the Year at the Texas Association of School Administrators & Texas Association of School Boards convention in Austin.

The top award recognizes superintendents for their educational leadership and their commitment to improving public education in their school district. Folks is the only Bexar County public school administrator to be honored with this award. He oversees the largest school district in San Antonio with an enrollment over 97,000 making the district the fourth largest in the state of Texas.

Folks’ award includes $5,000 and a specially designed ring. Other public school administrator finalists for the honor were Thomas Price of Splendora ISD, Gayle Stinson of Lake Dallas ISD, Sharon Shields of La Vega ISD and Michael Steck of Veribest ISD.
