EOC Summer Camps Focus on STAAR readiness

EOC Summer Camps Focus on STAAR readiness

It’s not your typical summer camp, but students are urged to attend.

Austin school districts are offering STAAR Summer Camps to students who did not pass the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) last spring according to the Statesman online newspaper.

The free camps reinforce those key areas that are assessed on end-of-course (EOC) exams like reading, writing, algebra, biology and geography. Students must pass EOC exams in order to graduate.

San Antonio school districts are also offering free summer school for students who did not pass one or more end-of-course exams. According to Harlandale, North East, Northside and San Antonio ISD officials, school counselors have called students to invite them to attend the four-week sessions. Students will then have an opportunity to retest.
