Girls Can Now Earn Financial Literacy Badges

In a CNN video blog, Girl Scouts of the USA’s CEO Anna Maria Chávez talks about the new Financial Literacy Badges that are teaching young girls about financial responsibility.

Girl Scouts troops are are not only selling cookies; they’re also saving money. That is, their learning about saving money. Thirteen new badges will be available this year that all center around financial literacy. The younger girls, Daisies, learn about saving money, while Cadet girls learn about property taxes, mortgages, and careers.

Girls as young as five years join the Girl Scouts to build lasting friendships and develop leadership and cooperation skills through fun and safe activities. To find a local council, click on the Girl Scouts of the USA link.
