The United States Department of Education awarded $14.8 million dollars to support teacher training and improve classroom instruction for English learners.

Out of the 42 grants awarded, three Texas Colleges were presented with grant funds:
* Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, $396,376
* University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, $316,484
* University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas, $348,237

Many grantees will focus their teaching training on enhancing teacher skills in science and math, which is critical for student success in STEM instructional settings.
