Mayor Challenges Students to Visit cafécollege

During a ribbon cutting for cafécollege’s phase II expansion, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro challenged high school students to make use of the city’s college resource center.

The mayor  issued a formal challenge to area high schools to take advantage of the expanded facility this year. Aside from a visit from the San Antonio Spurs Coyote, the winner of the challenge will get a prom hosted at the cafécollege facility and a visit from Castro to the winning high school’s commencement ceremony.

The winner will be determined by the percentage of a school’s students who visit the center this year, those return to visit the center a second time, those who have applied to college and those who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as FAFSA.

The expansion now offers a courtyard, offices, classrooms, a new computer lab, office spaces and a board room for the San Antonio Education Partnership. Located at 131 El Paso St., cafécollege has served more than 12,800 students.
