Obama Administration Celebrates Title IX

A game of hoops brought individuals together as they recognized the significance of Title IX.

Secretary Arne Duncan of the U.S. Department of Education and his family participated in a game of basketball with other White House officials and members from the women’s basketball team from Georgetown and several other universities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the passage of Title IX this month.

Title IX changed lives and opened doors for female athletes across the country. Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in all education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.
