SA Schools Could Benefit from Jobs Proposal

The jobs proposal President Barak Obama sent to Congress this week could lead to $2.3 billion in federal construction money.

San Antonio schools could net $203 million if the bill is passed. Not only would the school districts benefit but over 30,000 jobs could be created in an already sagging economy.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio Independent School District would get $69 million and Northside ISD would get $35 million. New construction and renovation projects would accommodate Northside ISD’s rapid growth.

Other Texas schools slated for funds include Houston, $233 million; Dallas, $191 million; Austin, $69 million; Laredo, $37 million; Brownsville, $60 million; Edinburg, $33 million; Pharr-San Juan-Alamo schools, $31.6 million; and Corpus Christi schools, $23 million.
