South San district students will have an opportunity to increase their environmental awareness with a field trip courtesy of the San Antonio Water System.

Athens Elementary School received a $500 grant from the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) earlier this month. Third graders will have an opportunity to explore animal and plant life and how they both relate to water conservation and the environment at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens.

SAWS  is dedicated to teaching children about water quality, conservation, environmental awareness and pollution prevention.
