Strike ends, Chicago kids go back to school

Chicago Teachers Union agree with new terms to end teacher strike.

The seven-day teacher strike came to an end late Tuesday evening when union leaders agreed to the new proposed contract that included many of the concessions the teachers wanted including, new teacher evaluations, hiring laid off teachers, and job security.

“We said that we couldn’t solve all the problems of the world with one contract, and it was time to end the strike,” said Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis.

Parents and children were just as excited with the news. Over the last week, parents have had to scramble to find alternate care plans for their children. On Wednesday morning, over 350,000 children returned to school.
