Texas Graduation Rates Improve Overall

In a recent report by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas has seen a boost in high school graduation rates.

According to news released by TEA, Texas has the 10th “highest overall” graduation rates in 34 states based on the National Governors Association (NGA) Compact Graduation Rate for the Class of 2010.

Statistics are based on the compact rate or four-year, on-time graduation rate. Graduation rates for white students are at 91.6 percent, Hispanic students are at 78.8 percent, and Texas ranked fifth for African-American students at 78.8 percent.

The only states with higher graduation rates include Iowa, Illinois, Vermont, North Dakota, Tennessee, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Virginia and Arkansas.
