UT Austin To Offer Free Online Classes Next Fall

Learning is getting more affordable in Texas.

The University of Texas at Austin has become the first public institution to join the massive open online course (MOOCs) enterprise. Free online courses are available on an open share platform, edX, which was created by Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The University of Texas Regents supported the move and with the collaboration of all UT schools, edX will offer UTx (online University of Texas) classes beginning Fall 2013 . The courses on edX are not for college credit; however, the courses are extremely popular among life-long learning and students who want to brush up on skills.
