ITSA team prepares for CyberPatriot finals

Five San Antonio teams are gearing up for next month’s CyberPatriot National High School Cyber Defense Competition in National Harbor, Md.

San Antonio College professors Michael Matuszek and Troy Touchette are leading the San Antonio team of Information and Technology and Security Academy (ITSA). Area high school students make up the ITSA team, which includes: Kenny Bias, Brackenridge High School; Theodore Belitsos, Lee High School; Tommy Roberts, Warren High School;  Robert Flores and Brian Carvan, both from Judson High School; and Mario Puente, Brennan High School.

The other teams from the San Antonio area competing in the open division are students from ITSA Boerne, two ITSA New Braunfels teams, and South West High School. ITSA is one of the Alamo Academies.

CyberPatriot gives students an opportunity to get hands on experience in the world of cyber security and get excited about STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education. In the competition, student teams must identify security vulnerabilities in three challenges.
