Become a Puente Mentor and make a difference

Do you have a college degree and a strong commitment to higher education? Become a Puente Mentor!

The Puente Project at Palo Alto College is recruiting mentors to join the campus mentoring program. Puente mentors are professionals with a bachelor of arts degree who can commit to once a month interaction with a mentee.

Each mentor is paired up with a Puente student. Mentors are expected to engage students in monthly conversations that focus on developing positive character and life skills. Conversation can take place via phone, email, text or face to face. During the academic year, mentors and mentees are invited to attend Puente-sponsored events at Palo Alto College.

Aside from receiving encouragement from mentors from the community, mentees also receive academic support and guidance while enrolled in the program. While the Puente program is only for one academic year, the relationships the students develop with the mentors outlast the program’s term.
