Mentoring program at NVC supports students

First-year students find value in peer mentors.

Northwest Vista College Student Life is piloting a peer mentoring program called “Wildcat Mentors” this semester with 20 trained mentors. Wildcat Mentors are working with 20 Student Development (SDEV) courses or approximately 520 first-year students.

Aside from offering guidance and answering questions about classes and instructors, Wildcat Mentors make in-class presentations about available campus resources, important deadlines and how to become engaged through campus activities and clubs.

Wildcat Mentors are trained to offer tips for time management and general advising and enrollment information.
