OLLU’s Camp Jersig Serves Area Children

Graduate students at Our Lady of the Lake University spent their summer working one-on-one with kids with communication disorders.

Camp Jersig provides children born with cleft lip and/or cleft palate an opportunity to interact with other kids their age and receive intensive speech therapy. Nine area children ages four – ten were invited to participate in the two-week camp. Not only did students have an opportunity to develop social skills, they had access to one-on-one speech therapy with graduate students of the Communications & Learning Disorders graduate program.

This type of program is a first of its kind in San Antonio and an excellent learning experience for program majors.
