Scobee renovation & new center planned

Area children will have a resource available to experience space science education next year.

San Antonio College will begin the renovating the Scobee Planetarium and adding the new Challenger Learning Center (CLC). The project kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.  The project is expected to be completed by Fall 2013.

The renovated Scobee will feature a new domed screen, new lighting and sound system, and expanded seating arrangement. Additionally, the planetarium will also have a museum lobby exhibit, gift shop and classrooms. The facility’s new Challenger Learning Center will serve as the nerve for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.
