Engineering department hosts robotics camp

Elementary boys and girls are invited to summer camp at San Antonio College.

The engineering department at San Antonio College (SAC) is hosting a FREE SpaceTeams Summer Robotics Camp for children in third though fifth grade. The camp begins July 23 – 27 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Chance Academic Center, Room 150 in the San Antonio College campus.

The summer camp experience is designed to inspire students to embrace science, technology, engineering and math or STEM. Campers will have an opportunity to learn about space and robotic exploration using Lego Mindstorms NXT kits. They will construct robots and learn to program using laptop computers.

To be considered, students must attend a Title One school or have received free or reduced lunch meals in the previous school year.

Rackspace Hosting is supporting the program by providing the funding to purchase the laptops, software, robot kits and paying instructional staff.

Note: The free camps will be available at all five Alamo Colleges during the months of July and August.
