Excellence in Education Award Winner

And the leadership award goes to…

Elementary school teacher Jimmie Walker won the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award for the state in the area of Elementary Leadership. She won $10,000 for herself and $10,000 for her school!

Walker and colleague David Foss, English Teacher at Alamo Heights High School, had both been selected as finalists for the Leadership Award. Both received $1,000 for themselves and $1,000 for their schools upon being selected as finalists.

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards celebrate public school professionals whose leadership and dedication inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities.

With more than $600,000 in cash prizes awarded to deserving teachers, principals, and school districts, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards is the largest monetary recognition program for educators in Texas and one of the largest in the nation.
