Summer time is usually a fun time for kids, but it’s also a time when many children miss meals because school lunch programs are not in session.

The San Antonio Public Library is partnering with the San Antonio Food Bank offering free summer meals to children and teens up to 18 years old. Depending on the library branch, free lunches and afternoon snacks are available.

Branch Libraries offering free meals:
Central Library, 600 Soledad
Cortez Library, 2308 Hunter Blvd.
Great Northwest, 9050 Wellwood
Johnston, 6307 Sun Valley Dr.
Last Palmas, 515 Castroville Rd.
Memorial, 3222 Culebra Rd.
Pruitt, 5110 Walzem Rd.
Westfall, 6111 Rosedale Court

To make your day complete, plan on participating in one of the San Antonio Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. Children simply keep a log of the books they’ve read and when they return the completed form, your child will receive an award and a book to keep. Many of the branches have summer programs for children as well. Age-appropriate activities are scheduled each day for children and teens.
