JISD celebrates grandparents all month long

National Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day; however, these grandparents were recognized all month long for their contribution as classroom readers.

Miller’s Point Elementary at Judson Independent School District (JISD) recognized the contributions grandparents make on their students in and out of school.

To benefit from the untapped community resource, the school invited grandparents to read to students during the month of September. Research confirms that reading aloud to children helps develop listening skills and inspires lifelong readers.

According to district news, both children and grandparents benefited from their reading time.
