Keep kids engaged with NVC summer programs

In less than ten weeks, children will be looking forward to basking in the delights of summer vacation.

Northwest Vista College offers a variety of enrichment programs and summer camps to keep your child busy and active year long. The Children’s Enrichment program runs each semester and is offered in three sessions (Spring I/Spring II or Fall I/Fall II or Summer). The enrichment classes are offered on Saturdays for children in PreKindergarten through eighth grade. Course topics include math magic, creative movement (dance), guitar, silly science, karate, reading intervention, fencing, math mania, adventures in fairy tales, reading comprehension, design and more. The six-week classes cost $64 and run for one hour.

Summer Camps
Campers can choose from a variety of camps to keep them engaged all summer. Camp themes include: Secret Agent Camp, Basketball/Volleyball Camp, Astronomy Camp, Dance/Cheer Camp, Around the World Camp, Dinosaur Detectives Camp, and Art Explorers Camp. The one-week camps cost $150. A two-week Class Act (drama) Camp wraps up the summer program. The two-week camp cost is $300.

TIER Programs
The Texas Institute for Educational Robotics (TIER) Programs at NVC promotes robotics to inspire students to embrace science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts. The TIER Program offers workshops, competitions, special events and supports youth robotics programs. TIER Saturday Enrichment and Summer Camp classes include introduction and advanced robotics class that teaches basic machinery using motorized Lego kits. Other classes cover introduction and advanced VEX, engineering and computer game design. For more information about the TIER Program, call 486-4421.
