Margil ES embraces reading with H-E-B’s Read3

H-E-B Grocery has given the gift of reading to San Antonio district children by donating books to their elementary school.

Margil Elementary School children will now add about 3,000 books to their library with this book donation. Aside from adding books to the school library, the children will be able to take their favorite book home to build their own home library. Baskin Elementary is set to receive a similar donation.

The donation is made by the San Antonio grocer who last year launched it’s Read 3 early childhood literacy initiative, which included a book drive and free books with in-store Combo Loco deals. Since its launch, over 12 in-store Literacy Centers have opened in San Antonio and in South Texas H-E-B Plus stores and almost one million books have been collected–600,000 to date!

The Read 3 campaign illustrates the importance of reading a minimum of three times per week to children and offers resources to families and caregivers to better prepare their children for preschool.
