Morrill Elementary artist wins art contest

Harlandale Independent School District budding artist wins $1,000 for school’s art program.

Angelina Fernandez, a fifth grader from Morrill Elementary, has been selected as the City Council District 3 winner for her artistic talents in the Texas Cavaliers River Parade Art Contest.

As part of her prize, Fernandez will receive $1,000 for her school’s art program and a one-week scholarship for the Summer Art Camp at the Southwest School of Art.

According to the district’s new site, Fernandez and the other City Council District winners will be recognized at a news conference on February 20, and a grand prize winner will be selected at that time.
