Team Up Challenge inspires youth to serve

Students are learning a thing or two about community service projects all thanks to a simple challenge.

The Team Up Challenge is a service learning project supported by the Silver and Black Give Back Foundation, a 501 c(3) public charity. Over 24 school districts have participated in the school based 2011-2012 Team Up Challenge competition.

The student-led service projects are designed to give back to the community through projects that support education, the environment, health and wellness, arts and culture and uniformed service.  According to a press release from the foundation, 20 semifinalists were chosen to receive $2,500 seed money. Before the year ends, five out of the 20 teams will receive a $20,000 award to help them fund their winning projects.
