ECISD students earn national recognition

Hard work paid off for students at East Central High School.

Three students earned national recognition for their performance on the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitutde Test). Julia Johnson and Jared Jaksik were recognized as Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Program. They were among the top 5% of 1.5 million students who entered school last fall. Julia and Jared received certificates from the National Merit Scholarship Program.

For his top performance on the PSAT, Joseph Mora was recognized as a National Hispanic Scholar by the College Board. Mora was awarded a scholarship from State Farm and hopes to attend college this fall at Rice University.

All three students’ award information will be shared with colleges and universities across the nation.
