EISD automotive facility offers hands-on training

Edgewood ISD opened a new facility at its Fine Arts Academy campus to offer students real-world training in automotive technology.

Earlier this year, Edgewood ISD converted a vehicle maintenance facility into an Automotive Technology classroom for students, opening the door to hands-on training for classes of up to twenty students.

This converted facility includes a tool crib, two-bay work area, and a large-equipment storage area. With new state-of-the-art equipment, the new program will offer six classes daily at the start of next school year. These classes include four periods of Energy, Power, and Transportation and two periods of Automotive Technology. Advanced Automotive Technology will be offered the following school year.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to test, diagnose, and repair several automotive systems and functions.
