Harlandale’s G-Force wins Team Up Challenge

The Harlandale High School G-Force were named the Summer Team Up Challenge Champions on August 16, 2011 at the San Antonio Silver Stars game. The G-Force program was awarded $10,000 for their positive contributions to the community by Silver & Black Give Back.

G-Force took the Team Up Challenge and hit the streets this past summer visiting local libraries to talk to kids about the importance of college. According to the Team Up Challenge website, the student-led projects must fall into one of the five categories: arts & culture, education, environment, health & wellness, and uniformed services. The group will use the $10,000 to fund their program, take middle school students on college campus visits and host college prep workshops.

The Team Up Challenge is a program of the Spurs Sports and Entertainment. It is a service learning program in which students lead a project that addresses a need in their community. The deadline for the next Team Up Challenge is September 15.
