Judson sisters to serve in military combat jobs

The Gomez sisters will be the first in the Texas National Guard to serve in positions traditionally held by male soldiers.

Meladee and Sarah Gomez were sworn in last week at Fort Sam Houston by Cpt. Mathews Metyko to the Texas National Guard. The older sibling, Sarah, is a 2011 Judson High School graduate and Maladee is a senior. Both girls have served in the Judson Junior ROTC and will now pursue careers in the military.

The girls will be the first females in the Texas National Guard to take on roles that involves field combat duties. Sarah will be working as a Fire Support System Specialist and Meladee will be a Multiple Launch Rocket Crew Member.

Congratulations to the Gomez sisters for making military history!
