EISD girls inducted to Scouts leadership program

Over 100 new teen girls were inducted into the Girl Scouts at Edgewood ISD.

At the inaugural Gamma Sigma Girls™ and Gamma Sigma Pearls Investiture Ceremony, the girls were pinned and welcomed into the sorority-like leadership program at the district’s Toltech STEM Academy.

During the ceremony,  news of a new scouting center was announced. The joint venture between Edgewood ISD,  the Westside Development Corporation and the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas will bring a safe zone for girls on the westside.

The new scouting center will be located at the now closed Coronado/Escobar school. The West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center at Coronado/Escobar will serve as the hub for girl programming and adult learning opportunities for over 4,000  girls and adult volunteers.

The new space will give girls an opportunity to further explore STEM-based activities, including robotics.
