NEISD student named finalist for essay contest

Rosa Elva Martinez is one of two Bexar County finalists selected in the annual Do The Write Thing Competition.

Martinez, an eighth grader from Wood Middle School in the North East school district, is one of many NEISD students who submitted essays. The annual competition is hosted by the Honorable Judge Susan D. Reed, Bexar County District Attorney. The event invites 7th and 8th grade students to write essays on topics such as the determent of violence, bullying, illicit drug abuse, and irrational behavior to build stronger youth, families, and communities.

As a finalist, Martinez will participate in a Leadership Summit in Austin and then travel to Washington, D.C., in July where all finalists’ essays will be archived in the Library of Congress.
