Online newspapers inspire young journalists

Budding journalists at Northeast district middle schools are channeling their creative energy to connect with classmates.

The Online Program at Northeast ISD has launched three middle school online newspapers and is set to launch a fourth this Friday, Wood Middle School’s “The Maximum.” According to district media, the online program kicked off last year at Krueger’s Middle School.  Earlier this year, Driscoll and Garner middle schools followed suit with their own online newspapers.

The online newspaper or blogging tool is a great opportunity for students to get involved and hone their craft. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to highlight each school and issues that are important to this age group. Users can log in and scan for daily news, sports, arts & entertainment, school announcements and other fun, miscellaneous news.

Each online newspaper has a staff sponsor, but the news is generated by the student journalism staff. Check it out. Your daily school news is just a click away.
