Students will begin new school year with supplies

Students at Edgewood ISD will start off the new school year with all the school supplies they need for the entire year.

Edgewood Independent School District (EISD) Board of Trustees has agreed to fund the School Supply Initiative that will provide all district students with a free backpack and grade-appropriate supplies they need on day one of the school year.

In a press release statement issued this week, district official supported the initiative.

“We chose to prioritize this initiative because it’s important for our parents and our schools to work together. This critical initiative will lead to higher student learning and increased equity in our schools. At this time, we feel very fortunate that we are able to support the parents of our community in this way,” said Dr. Jose A. Cervantes, Superintendent of Schools.
