SWISD launches cyber security training pilot

Saturday school isn’t probably high on any student’s list of ideal things to do on the weekend. Unless, you’re a middle schooler interested in technology.

Southwest Independent School District (ISD) recently launched CyberSTAR. The program will introduce 75 middle school students to the exciting field of cyber security and computer maintenance.

The initiative is designed to develop the cyber pipeline along the middle school grades and promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM-related fields. The STEM pilot will run for five Saturdays.

Lesson topics cover Linux, Windows Server, Windows Workstation, and basic hardware.
