Young Achievers get a feel for campus living

Want to know about college culture and the programs available? Go on a tour!

That’s what the Young Achievers from Rhodes Middle School and Terrell Wells Middle School did earlier this month when they traveled to Texas A&M University for a campus tour. A group of 33 students made the trip as part of the Young Achievers program to promote college readiness.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio sponsors Young Achievers program, a college preparation program with partnering school districts. Students who commit to the 16-week program participate in workshops, take field trips to college campuses, meet with a mentor and have an opportunity to take the SAT test. Students are given an opportunity to compete for a scholarship for a three-week summer study workshop at a university.
