East Central ISD trustees select lone finalist

High school principal is selected by board to serve as district’s leader.

The East Central Independent School District board of trustees announced Rolando Toscano as the lone finalist for the position of superintendent. He will replace Gary Patterson, who will retire this summer.

Toscano, a high school principal at East Central High School, is a product of the area and has been with the district since 1997. He has climbed the ranks holding positions as a student teacher, bus driver and administrator. He earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio and master of arts from Texas A&M University – Kingsville.

A mandatory 21-day waiting period is required before he can be officially named as superintendent. He is expected to assume his position on July 1, 2014.
