JLA administrator named principal of the year

High school principal is recognized for keeping students on track.

Brandon Van Vleck, who serves as principal of the Judson Learning Academy (JLA) at Rolling Oaks Mall, has been named High School Principal of the Year for Region 20 by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP).

Each year, the association recognizes outstanding high school principals and assistant principals from the twenty regional education service centers for their leadership and exemplary performance.

Van Vleck has been at the helm at JLA for three years. The Judson Learning Academy is one of 23 Simon Schools that operates in the United States. The school is supported by the Simon Youth Foundation, which partners with independent school districts across the country to provide learning academies in Simon malls for students who are at risk of dropping out.
