NVC hosts Teaching & Learning Conference

District-wide conference at Northwest Vista College targets key areas to improve collaborative team work and learning.

Northwest Vista College will host the college-wide Teaching and Learning Conference on Friday, Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m in Juniper Hall with the keynote speaker in Huisache Hall. Lunch will be included, so registration is requested.

The day-long conference kicks off with keynote speaker Pamela Bain discussing the role that community colleges play and key skills (critical thinking, cooperation, and communication play) needed in the workplace. Bain is president and CEO of Bain Medina Bain, a family-owned engineering partnership founded by Henry Bain in 1959.

Other presentation topics include cooperative/collaborative learning and team work; writing and research across all disciplines; using speeches and presentations to improve learning; and promoting and developing critical thinking skills.
