Pep Rally Kicks Off Student Aid Saturdays

As the spring semester gets underway, so does the need for students to begin their financial aid filing. With the help of volunteers, that process should become a little easier.

At a pep rally hosted by Generation TX and cafécollege, Mayor Julián Castro announced the City’s latest initiative: Student Aid Saturdays. The first event begins on Saturday, January 28 at various locations, including South San High School, University of Texas at San Antonio, St. Philip’s College, Palo Alto College, and cafécollege.

Scheduled Student Aid Saturdays are as follows:
– January 28
– February 4
– February 12
– February 18
– February 25
– March 3
– March 10
– March 17

Volunteers from across the city have banned to help make this initiative a success, including The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, SA2020, San Antonio Education Partnership, Generation TX and San Antonio colleges and universities. Approximately 28 Student Aid Saturday events throughout the city have been scheduled to assist families with completing their federal and state financial aid applications.

Student aid training is still available until Wednesday, Jan. 25 at cafécollege. Volunteers interested in getting trained can contact contact Rebecca Gonzalez at 207-4527.
