School-based clinic opens doors at Harlandale

On-site clinic offers students immediate health-care needs.

By reducing illnesses, students miss fewer days of education. That is one of the benefits the Harlandale Independent School District hopes to reap by it’s first-ever, school-based clinic that opened its door last month at Collier Elementary (834 W. Southcross).

The clinic is operated University Health System and Harlandale ISD. Currently, it offers two exam rooms but will add two more by January. A nurse practitioner and medical assistant will be on site Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and every Friday from  7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Health care services are open to any HISD student and their siblings up to age 18. Services include immunizations, physical exams, Well Child checkups, sports physicals and minor acute care
