P-20 Summit promotes parent engagement

Don’t miss out on these informative parent-engagement sessions at UTSA.

A great opportunity is being offered next month for parents of students in grades K-8 .  On Saturday, September 6, UTSA (University of Texas San Antonio) will be hosting the P-20 Summit: Parent Engagement.  The FREE program is directed at giving parents tips for how to prepare their kids not only for high school graduation but for a post secondary education as well.

P-20 as a whole prides itself in helping make college possible for everyone, regardless of the situation. Through the help of partnerships with educational institutions around the community, P-20 gives students the leadership capabilities needed to reach educational success.  The main goals of the program are as follows: (via P-20)

• “To support hands-on field experiences and community outreach projects related to college awareness”
• “To support rigorous coursework and experiences that prepare students for college and career readiness at UTSA and other higher educational institutions.”
• “To develop partnerships that engage students, parents, educators, community, business and industry in the educational process.”
• “To facilitate systematic policy development based upon P-20 model programs and research.”

The P-20 Summit: Parent Engagement on September 6 will take place at the downtown UTSA campus. The available sessions last from 9 am-1 pm or from 12 pm-4 pm, with breakfast/lunch being provided.  In addition to the event, parking is also free.  Sign up at the link below.
